Lake Murray Fireworks & Boat Parade

Fireworks: Lake Murray is located about a half hour from Columbia and about 45 minutes from Lake Carolina. They have a 4th of July celebration that is worth making the trip for, including South Carolina’s largest fireworks display. This choreographed show will be accompanied by a patriotic concert airing on B106.7 FM. The best places to watch the firework show are Dreher Island State Park ($2/person admission) and the two parks located at the Lake Murray dam ($3/car admission).


Boat Parade: The Capital City Lake Murray Country is trying to break their all-time record this 4th of July with over 150 boats and inclusion. They are even going to break the record in the Guinness Book of World Records! And you can be a part of the 26th annual celebration. The parade will be held on the 4th, starting at noon at Bomb Island with a path that heads toward the Dam. Registration is open until June 25th and can be done over the phone, through email, mail or at the Visitor Center. Columbia Blowfish Baseball Game

With a 7:05PM game start, wind down your holiday with the Columbia Blowfish as they take on the Florence Redwolves. Kids under age 12 can bring their gloves to play catch on the field with the Blowfish players from 6 to 6:30 PM. The Blowfish have a new stadium with a capacity for 3,000, Wrigley Field style box seats, leftfield lawn seating and bowl seating that provides an intimate ballpark experience. Lexington County Peach Festival

About 30 minutes from Columbia and 45 minutes from Lake Carolina sits the town of Gilbert, who will host the Lexington County Peach Festival. Not only have they been around for an incredible 57 years, but they are recognized as hosting one of the most successful and prestigious events of its kind in the Southeast United States. Are peaches the Queen of all Fruits? We will let you decide! This years festival is held on July 4th, kicking off with a parade at 9:30 AM with events and activities that go on until 10 PM in the evening, ending with a tremendous firework display. Live entertainment, over 100 art and craft exhibits, an antique car show, a Revolutionary War Re-enactment, tractor show, children’s rides and speciality peach treats and dishes are all a part of the day’s events. Slide the City in Columbia, SC

Slide the City is a huge water party that is coming to Columbia! What exactly does that mean? Imagine speeding down a 1000 foot slip and slide with music, dancing, food drinks, prizes and more!
